It is recommended to calibrate the battery (for the battery-removable Macbook only) every two months. The steps are as follows:

If the Macbook has a built-in (non-removable) battery, there is no need to calibrate the batter.

1) plug in the MagSafe power converter to fully charge the battery of your MacBook or MacBook Pro. At this point, the light on the MagSafe plug turns to the recording color, and the "battery" image on the selected single column shows that the battery is fully charged.

2) keep the battery fully charged for two hours or more. You can use your computer during this time as long as the power converter is still plugged in.

3) unplug the wiring of the power converter from the computer and start using the battery power to operate the computer. When the battery is low, you will see the low battery warning dialog on the screen.

4) keep the computer on until you fall asleep. When battery lower but not yet entered the sleep state, save your work and close the have applications.

5) turn off the computer or let it sleep for five hours or more.

6) reconnect the power converter and remain connected until the battery is fully charged. During this time, you can use the computer.
The calibration procedure is repeated every about two months to keep the battery fully functioning. If you're not a regular user of a MacBook or MacBook Pro, it's a good idea to recalibrate the battery at least once every other month
